Political Sketchpad is an attempt by the author to discuss political issues using through sketch writing.

About the author

JAYSON EDWARD B. SAN JUAN is a policy analyst, online journalist, and researcher who has written on emerging policy issues in the areas of electric power and water industries, public utilities regulation, public finance, and governance and technology. As Technical Assistant of the political management firm PUBLiCUS Asia Inc.,  he has contributed to the policy discourse in Congress through various bills he has drafted. He is also a staff member of various national and local political campaigns for the upcoming 2010 presidential elections.

He concurrently manages the online policy magazine THE LOBBYiST, where he contributes policy analyses on hot-button and timely policy issues for Congressional leaders. Mr. San Juan has also conducted seminars and workshops on new media and the intersection of politics, government, and the Web. Prior to his current work, he was policy researcher with the Freedom from Debt Coalition. In this role, he wrote on the viability of stock ownership as an alternative to cash refunds in the Meralco case. The Philippine Department of Energy consequently adopted his paper as one of its policy proposals. Mr. San Juan has also authored an article on reproductive health for the Population Chronicle of the League of Cities of the Philippines and the United Nations Population Fund.
